John Slutzkin
John Slutzkin joined the Board in 1988 when Mr. Peter Cohen
OAM was elected President. His family ties with St Kilda stretch
back almost to the founding of the Congregation in 1872. His
late Great-grandfather, Phillip Blashki was prominent in both
the general Jewish Community and the early St Kilda Congregation.
His late Grandfather, Sholom, and uncle Leo, both served as
Presidents, whilst his late father Peter was one of the first
Barmitzvah boys in the current building, and was elected a
Life Member of the Congregation in 1990. John's involvement
with St Kilda started in the 1950's as a young Chorister,
an interest he maintains until today.
On the Board he has served as Ceremonial Chairman, Treasurer,
and Vice-President prior to taking office as President in
October 1998.
He is now a Past President and was elected to the Board in
September 2003 for a further term.
His wife Beth, children Erica and Matthew, and son-in-law
Seon Rozenblum all regularly attend services and give strong
support to John's ideals.
Beth is a Past President of the Shule's Ladies Auxiliary.
